We start with Jason introducing himself, and it's pretty amazing, although this scene is always hard for me to read: It wasn't as straightforward as I expected, but it did keep me on my toes. But more than that, I love all the backstabbing - some verbal, some with more dire consequences - and how that led to some characters just fucking themselves - and others - over badly. I absolutely love the way Jason Todd and Amanda Waller interact, and that sort of cemented 'you will love this' for me. I can't say on a whole, everything else might be shit, but I was into this, the first time I read it, and yes, on this reread. Not gonna lie, hadn't read anything but Azzarello, and since then and now I've read that he's both loved and loathed as a writer. But there's more: Maleev illustrating? YES PLEASE! Jason Todd leading a suicide squad? Yes please! Him leading a suicide squad to get Joker? Even more yes please. Because, like, my friend told me about this series and I have been all over it since I heard about it. whatever the hell this is other than Jason Todd fandom. Look, all my reviews aren't going to be crying about my feelings, some of them are going to be.
